Surrey Dyslexia was created by two specialist teachers
and assessors with many years collective experience
in both the state and independent sectors. They recognised
a growing need within their area for highly individualised
and multi-sensoryspecialist teaching and for
careful and thorough formal assessment.
As mothers of children with learning difficulties, they were in a unique position to understand how to support not only their pupils, but also parents of pupils, and how to help both negotiate the minefield of contemporary schooling.
Finding the right ‘fit’ in a specialist teacher is paramount to a successful outcome, and Surrey Dyslexia now consists of a small team of experienced and empathetic teachers – who have largely found their way to specialist teaching via their own, or their children’s learning experiences.
All are therefore uniquely placed to become a ‘champion’ for their pupils, to understand their difficulties, and to help them realise their potential.
Bespoke teaching and assessment
Surrey Dyslexia specialises in providing bespoke teaching and specialist assessment for children in both the early and middle years of education, helping to build their self-esteem and develop their individual learning strategies.
Teaching both within school and at home, every member of the team takes pride in providing an approach that is individually tailored to each child. Lessons are designed to build their self-esteem and equip them with a range of tools with which to meet the demands of the curriculum and fulfil their goals.
Surrey Dyslexia works within a number of schools in the local area, both within the independent and state sector, and at both primary and secondary level. Teachers are practiced in teaching towards that national curriculum, but also have years of experience in teaching at International schools towards the International Baccalaureate.
